Christopher Tolomeo (he/him) has been a professional music director, conductor, composer, actor, and multi-instrumentalist in the Philadelphia area since 2002. He has music directed and conducted productions at many area venues, notably West Chester University (PA), Montgomery Theater (PA), Media Theater (PA), Candlelight Theatre (DE), City Theater Company (DE), Wilmington Drama League (DE), and Ritz Theater (NJ).
Christopher lends his versatile playing for live shows and recording sessions with Philadelphia-based bands and artists. Whether on trumpet, piano, or drums (his three main instruments), he has also performed in theater pit orchestras throughout the Tri-State area; notably, at Philadelphia Theater Company, Players Club of Swarthmore, and Wilmington Drama League.
As a composer and arranger, Christopher has created music for numerous musical styles and genres, including jazz, rock and musical theater. He wrote an original musical (book/music/lyrics) entitled The Jingle Man, which made its Philadelphia debut at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in 2007. A studio recording of the score (produced, arranged, and conducted by Christopher) was released shortly thereafter.
In October of 2009, Christopher released "Paint the Town Red!", an album of original jazz music. A second album, "Love is a Straitjacket", was released in 2011. In December 2017, he released an album of Christmas songs entitled "Too Much Christmas". As a sideman, he has appeared on numerous recordings, including bands such as Mercury Radio Theater, Blayer Pointdujour and the Rockers Galore, Gringo Motel, and The Low Budgets (please visit "Discography" page for more info).
As a piano accompanist, he has played for theater classes, auditions, rehearsals, and special events for Candlelight Theatre of Delaware, Philadelphia Theater Company, Walnut Street Theater, University of the Arts, West Chester University, and many local schools and universities.
Christopher is no stranger to acting and being onstage, having acted since grade school. Some of his favorite recent acting roles include portraying "Robert" in the musical Company and "Mugsy" in the play Dealer's Choice.
Christopher holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Eastern University of St. Davids, PA. He plays trumpet, flugelhorn, cornet, trombone, baritone horn, drums, percussion, ukulele, and piano. Christopher teaches general music and chorus at Hillcrest Elementary School in the Upper Darby School District.
